Abstract

In this paper, we aim to give a brief introduction to what flexibility on electricity system means in the UK, before focussing the investigation to steel making industries and explore the potential of flexibility from steelworks. An up-to-date review of ancillary services needed by the National Grid in the UK is also given. Finally, we discuss feasible ancillary services for steelworks to participate in order to make revenues, so as to address how flexibility from steelworks industries can be best valued.
