Abstract

A facile, high yield preparation of bis(2,4,6[triisopropylphenyl)borane (Trip2BH, ditripylborane) (1), a unique, stable, solid monomeric diorganylborane is outlined. It only slowly hydroborates alkynes and, most puzzlingly, with little regioselectivity. At room temperature (1) does not hydroborate alkenes.
