Abstract
In this chapter we outline a social intervention in two universities in Wales, the Coffee Club, which was initiated by the authors of this chapter as a safe space where students could build a supportive peer network. The chapter explores the underlying research that actively engaged with students’ subjective perspectives. It then evaluates the Coffee Club in terms of its potential to attend to the barriers faced by mature and non-traditional students and improve their experiences of university.
