Abstract

Brexit: What Consequences for Agriculture and Fisheries? After the Brexit referendum in 2016, the management of the exit of the United Kingdom (UK) from the European Union (EU) has become a real political crisis with multiple consequences. With uncertainty as a keyword, this subject has placed the agricultural and fisheries sector at the centre of several issues. This exceptional political situation has given rise to doubt on the agro-food market, both in the UK and in the twenty-seven members states. With regards to the sea sector, Brexit is revealing structural issues for the fisheries industry at continent-wide level. The path that the exit of the UK will take will determine the future of fish production in many countries and urge London to rethink its food supply that will have to follow new modalities.
