Abstract

The increasing portion of natural gas facilities has accelerated the development of the integrated gas and electricity system (IGES). For better planning, control and analysis of IGES, it is essential to perform a fast and accurate power flow analysis to acquire the system's operation status. Recently, the holomorphic embedding method (HEM) and its variants have shown great potential in power flow calculation of electric power systems, which sheds light on the IGES's power flow analysis. In this paper, a power flow analysis method of IGES using the fast and flexible holomorphic embedding method is proposed. As the idea of holomorphic embedding being firstly adopted in IGES, a novel set of IGES power flow equations are constructed by embedding a complex variable and its power series expansions. By solving the unknown series coefficients and conducting analytic continuation, a numerical solution to the IGES power flow can be obtained. Case study shows that the proposed method is able to generate a power flow solution very close to the Newton Raphson iteration with less computation effort.
