Abstract

How is technological ageism produced in relation to the social imaginaries of what it is to be an older adult? This chapter explores this question in the context of Catalonia through an intersectional sensibility in a sheltered housing community. From a macro perspective, Information Communication Technologies (ICTs) have been found to enable several societal outcomes for older people, such as support, social connectedness and quality of life. Meanwhile, ICTs have contributed to inequalities and, eventually, have produced ageism.
