Abstract

An investigation of the cross-connections between France and Latin America through an examination of the interactions between the French composer Maurice Ohana and Cuban writer Alejo Carpentier. The article compares their respective creative aesthetic, setting Ohana's music against a background of the so-called Magic Realist movement in literature and Carpentier's 'real maravilloso'.
