Abstract

The authors report observations of a sample of optically selected quasars at wavelengths close to one millimetre. The quasars were selected on the basis of (1) optical and near infrared colours, (2) optical luminosity. No objects were detected from either sample despite previous claimed detections of apparently similar objects by other authors. The constrained continuum spectral shape of the sources is inconsistent with a homogeneous synchrotron model, but consistent with an inhomogeneous model and the two-component model of Ennis et al.
