Abstract

Motivated by the jellium model, which is most appropriate for simple sp electron metals, in which trends of elastic constants with interelectronic separation r s are the focus, some extrapolation is made to the covalent diamond-structure semiconductors. This leads to the exposing of interrelationships involving experimental elastic compliance data, for C, Si, Ge and α-Sn.
