Abstract

Uranium thiocyanate complexes in different oxidation states have been studied by SQUID magnetometry, photoluminescence spectroscopy, and spectroelectrochemistry. The magnetic properties of [U(NCS)8]4− have been studied with respect to the geometry around the uranium ion. The thiocyanate ligands in this complex have been found to undergo unusual anodic reactivity.
