Abstract

The paper presents a performance-oriented design explorer tool focusing on finding spatial concepts based on acoustic parameters. The design explorer is a genetic evolutionary algorithm realizing evaluation through room acoustical and room morphological criteria. The paper describes the concept of the design system focusing on the synthesis of geometry, assignment of material properties, on the implementation of evaluation criteria and on the description of relevant acoustic criteria. The presented experimental algorithm is part of doctoral research work in progress. It marks a research milestone describing the concept and implementation of an evolutionary algorithm for spatial acoustics and presenting results produced by the proof of concept algorithm.
