Abstract

A controlled laboratory experiment was performed to measure many corona parameters for variable frequency alternating voltage excitation of a coaxial electrode system. A dynamic corona model was implemented in a new computer program and further developed to allow direct comparison with the measured data. Initial agreement was excellent, and a thorough investigation of sensitivity to parameter variations was conducted allowing an optimum fit to be obtained. The model was subsequently used as an aid to the interpretation of experimental waveforms and predictions of the corona performance of real line conductors
