Abstract

A follow-up study was undertaken to compare the mortality of 145 goitrous subjects with 145 matched controls, all of whom had been identified in a survey over 20 years previously. The goitrous subjects did not suffer any excess mortality from ischaemic heart disease or from all causes of death.
