Abstract

The construction, operation, and performance characteristics of a membrane-covered photobacterium probe are described. Using Photobacterium fischeri (strain MJ-1) and polypropylene or silicone-rubber membranes this device responds equally rapidly () in gas or liquid phases. Linear photoemission occurs as a function of oxygen concentration over the range 8.4 μm to 35 nm O2
